Dear parents, students, and friends of the Taras Shevchenko School of Ukrainian Studies in Washington, D.C.!

Registration for the new 2026–2027 academic year is ongoing!

We invite both our regular students and new families to join our welcoming school community, where every child has the opportunity to learn about the Ukrainian language, culture, history, and traditions in a warm and supportive atmosphere.

📚 What does our school offer?

• Learning Ukrainian (reading, writing, speaking)

• Basics of Ukrainian history, culture, and geography

• Creative master classes, festive events, and participation in school and public events

• Professional and caring teachers

🧑‍🎓 We accept students from the youngest, the “Svitlychka” group (for children aged 3 years old), up to the 10th grade.

At each class, children receive knowledge tailored to their needs and level of development, as well as a great deal of joy from communicating in Ukrainian with their friends.

📅 Classes are held every Saturday in a convenient format that combines learning with live communication and various events.

Discover Our School

Taras Shevchenko School of Ukrainian Studies of Greater Washington is a Ukrainian Saturday school in Bethesda MD, established in 1963.

The main role and mission of our School is to raise conscious and spiritually rich young people of Ukrainian descent to become leading, worthy and proud members of the global Ukrainian community as well as to provide our students with unforgettable educational experiences.

We invite and encourage all children ages 3-16 who understand and speak Ukrainian, and are interested in expanding their knowledge of the Ukrainian language, culture, history and other subjects, to enroll in our school.

Classes, ranging from pre-K to Grade 10, are held in Ukrainian (with additional clarification in English where needed) and enable children to grow, learn, and play in a Ukrainian environment.
